Papelbon Back To The Pen!
All of the sudden, Jonathan Papelbon looks like a steal in the 10th round, and Joel Pineiro looks like a complete dud in the 20th, at least according to ESPN.
I heard Francona say, about a month ago, that it was possible that they would send Pap's to the back end of the game. At the time I thought, "Hmm. Manager had a a stud closer that he trusted last year. Manager says they might use that guy again in that role. Manager might have a preference about how this thing turns out."
The Sox have Schill (pitching for the last contract of his career), Beckett, DiceK and Timmy. Why do they really need another starter? This seemed like the logical choice all along.
I was the 1412th pick of the 2002 MLB Amateur Draft, and wrote a book about my experiences in pro ball, called "What Day Is Today?" It is available on Amazon.com. Now, I am a television news anchor and reporter.
